Project: The Pink Ball
Overview: The Pink Ball was the first-ever annual fundraising gala in the British Museum’s nearly 275-year history, held on 18 October 2025 in central London. The spectacular event transformed the Museum’s iconic spaces, including the Great Court and historic galleries, with a pink theme inspired by the colours and light of India. That inspiration tied in with the Museum’s Ancient India: Living Traditions exhibition, which was concluding at the same time. Guests were encouraged to wear elegant attire in the event’s signature shade of pink.
Nearly 900 attendees walked the pink carpet to enjoy an evening among some of the world’s greatest cultural treasures. The guestlist blended celebrities, designers, artists, patrons and global cultural figures, including Mick Jagger, Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson, Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry - from the world of art, culture and fashion.
Raising over £2.5 million to support the museum’s international partnerships, training programmes and future initiatives. During the evening, a major £10.3 million gift from the Garfield Weston Foundation was also announced to fund new visitor welcome pavilions.
